with J. Brown Yoga
Saturday November 2
Yoga teacher, writer, and podcaster J. Brown is leading the way in the Slow Yoga Revolution, advocating for more intimate, breath-centered, therapeutic yoga practices. J’s offerings are at once both a revolution and a return to the ancient roots of yoga. His approach is largely inspired by the teachings of TKV Desikachar and is geared towards feeling well and lessening of pain.
J’s will offer two sessions. Both will include a lecture/discussion and a practice. Each session builds on the next. Ideally, participants would attend all sessions but they can be attended individually as well.
Session 1: “Introduction and Context”
9:00-12:00pm
Here we establish a context for inquiry together where J learns about the interests and experience of the participants and shares the background behind what he teaches. the first workshop scheduled from 9-12 and the second from 2-5 if that works for you.
Session 2: “The Ideas That Make it Work”
2:00-5:00pm
In this discussion, we explore the history and philosophy of yoga, comparing and contrasting different viewpoints and examining how ideas are expressed through practice.
This is J’s signature offering that he has given to thousands of students and teachers around the world. In this gentle approach, we are making the body strong and flexible — but we go about it in a way that also encourages useful patterns of thought and behavior. It is suitable for any level of experience or physical ability.
